HUMBLE HOLINESS.  There is a grammar of faith: words, language and a vocabulary that we are familiar with and use in our daily life: the sacraments, prayer, the Eucharist and so on.  So too, there is a grammar of humility. ‘Thank you’, ‘I am sorry’, ‘Forgive me’, ‘Please may I’, are examples of it.  Humility is first and foremost a practical virtue.  It impacts on the way we live our lives and is conscious of the God given dignity of others.  Humility is related to love, St. Paul, when describing love, says that love is not rude (1 Corinthians 13:1).  Not being rude or offensive is much more than watching our P’s and our Q’s, it is about understanding that everyone we meet and encounter is created in the image and likeness of God.  Lord, by your grace, may I live a life worthy of the calling I have received and recognize in every human person their dignity and value as human beings but also as your children.  – Walk With Me A Lenten Journey of Prayer for 2019.
